Who Do You Say I Am (Insert your name here)?
Happy Son-day!
15 days to the arrival of Acts of the Apostles 2:1 June 5
Mya, Me, & Sunday Culture
Mya is Marcus' daughter and Jo's niece.
WHO YOU SAY I AM? Matthew 16:15
Do
your acts reflect those of the Holy Spirit?
Christ asked this question of the disciples. . . he wanted them to declare who he was. He is confident in who He is. Remember, I am that I am.
Ask a friend or family member what to they or others see in you?
Here is my confession. I am a recovering ENTJ. Per the Myer-Briggs personality index.
My personality is Extravert, Intuitive, Thinking, Judgement.
And per the MBPI my weaknesses are:
·
Lack of patience in stagnancy
·
Too direct
·
Insensitive
·
Too pragmatic
·
Overconfident
·
Intolerant
·
Stubborn
·
Arrogant
·
Ruthless
I am a hot mess, if left to own unrefined will I am a JERK not ENTJ.
Some may say, sorry this is how I am wired. You can’t fight the feeling.
God understands. God is all about free will. I choose my own destiny. This is who I am.
True, true.
However, if you have declared Christ as sovereign over your life, your life is not your own.
Jeremiah 10:23-24
I know, Lord, that we humans are
not in control of our own lives. Correct me, as I deserve, but not in your
anger, or I will be dead.
Our lifestyle brings praise to the King.
Ephesians 1:11-12
11 In Christ
we were chosen to be God’s people. God had already planned for us to be his
people, because that is what he wanted. And he is the one who makes everything
agree with what he decides and wants.
12 We Jews were the first to hope in Christ. And we were chosen so that we would bring praise to God in all his glory.
Quit Looking for the extravagant signs and listen to the small
still voice
Holy Spirit workings come in forms than the gifts. Your
transformation from the worst of human beings to a saint you are is all about
the glorification process
1 Timothy 1:15-16
15 “Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners.” This saying is true, and it can be trusted. I was the
worst sinner of all!
16 But since I was worse than
anyone else, God had mercy on me and let me be an example of the endless
patience of Christ Jesus. He did this so that others would put their faith in
Christ and have eternal life.
So back to the Celebration of “Pentecost”. His Fruit performs a daily personal miracle in you.
Galatians 5, “I say, walk in the Spirit. The fruit of walking in
the Spirit is love,
- joy,
- peace,
- patience,
- kindness,
- goodness,
- faithfulness,
- gentleness
and
- self-control.
The transformative work of the Holy Spirit
The meaningful, deep changes within anyone as they are touched by the Holy Spirit. They mature in their experience of and expression of their faith.
Characteristics of a transformed life.
- Faith in the Savior.
- Fervor in Supplication (fancy word for an earnest request). Fervor just means energy, passion, drive.
- Faithfulness in Service.
New Testament Commandment
1 Corinthians 4:2
Now it is required that those who
have been given a trust MUST PROVE FAITHFUL. The world
ought to know us by our service to Jesus Christ, by that we should be
identified
·
What are you doing for Him?
·
What kind of service do you have?
·
How are you using your spiritual gifts and fruit?
·
Where are you using your abilities?
If you’re not you’re, you are on your own terms, which is a contradiction of His terms. The mighty Counselor, The Comforter has come and He will guide you into all truth.
The transformed life, faith in the Savior, fervor in supplication, faithfulness in service.
Songs of the Week with lyrics below. And yes I am a Steven Curtis Chapman fan.
The first song is about the Fruit of the Sprit's work in you
"Change" link, by Steven Curtis Chapman (Wild, fun, Rock!, calling you out!)
"Great God" link by Deitrick Haddon (Comtemporary, fast, fun, funky, high praise)
Change
I've got letters on my bracelet to serve as my ID
I've got the necklace and the key chain
And almost everything a good Christian needs
Yeah...
And a welcome mat to bless you before you walk across my floor
I've got a Jesus bumper sticker
And the outline of a fish stuck on my car
And even though this stuff's all well and good, yeah
I cannot help but ask myself
What about the difference?
What about the grace?
What about forgiveness?
What about a life that's showin'
I'm undergoin' the change?
Yeah
I'm undergoing the change
Where I believe the whole world is revolving around me
And I got this way of living that I have to die to every single day
'Cause if God's Spirit lives inside of me, yeah
I'm gonna live life differently
I'm gonna have the difference
I'm gonna have the grace
I'm gonna have forgiveness
I'm gonna live a life that's showin'
I'm undergoin' the change
What about the difference?
What about the grace?
What about forgiveness?
I want to life a life that's showin'
I'm undergoin' the change
What about the difference?
What about the grace?
What about forgiveness?
I want to life a life that's showin'
I'm undergoin' the change
Great God
Y'all ready
Scream
A place I've been so many times before
Familiar thoughts and phrases that I know so well
But dare I go where I don't understand
And do I dare remember where I am
I stand before the great eternal throne
The one that God Himself is seated on
And I, I've been invited as a son
Oh I, I've been invited to come and
Receive the inconceivable
And see beyond my wildest imagination
Lord, I come with great expectations
Stir the fire inside and make it glow
I'm trustin' in a love that has no end
The Savior of this world has called me friend
And I, I've been invited with the Son
Oh I, I've been invited to come and
And we've been invited to come and
Receive the inconceivable
And see beyond our wildest imagination
Lord, we come with great expectations
