Bring Some Flavor

Smile it's a Good Son-Day!!!! 🛩  Up, Up, and Away🛫🚀 Bring Some Flavor This week, the message will shift from God's dynamics to the joy we are directed to bring to others.  Christ calls us the salt of the earth.  In ancient times, salt was as valuable as money.  In fact, in some civilizations, it was used as money. The first home refrigerator was not available until 1913.  During the time of Christ, roughly 30 AD, food was preserved by immersing food items in salt.   Salt draws water out of food cells, creating an environment where bacteria can't grow.   More on salt . . . Ask any expert beef cooking expert, and they will tell you salt changes the texture of the meat to something more desirable. It can break down tough meat fibers. Make it softer Salt  releases dopamine, which can make you feel good.   Salt, in moderation, is necessary for our biological functions, and the brain comes to crave it.  Salt makes food taste better.  W...

Beginning Bonds

Good Son-Day!!! Tales of Jo, The Wonder Wife Episode 1: Big Joe Foiled Again! Beginning Bonds Last week, I attended our city’s volunteer appreciation function. I sat next to a guy, who volunteered to lead the soccer program only to get a credit as a community leader to use for his run for a state senate seat.  He is not well-liked.  His term as the soccer director was unsuccessful because he could not bring people together.  He was mean, selfish, condesendiing, adversarial, and controlling.  This behavior did not go unnoticed. News  spread that he was a jerk.  Voters gave him little love on election day.   This same guy has run for a school board and municipal positions as well with the same results.  Our soccer program has 900 kids.  Many of them also played in our football program.  Some of the parents reached out to me to work with this person to make the program successful.  I did and he declined my offers.  His refusal to ...

A Daily Dose Will Do Ya!

Good Son-Day!!! Age of Aquarium A Daily Dose Will Do Ya! One of my deeply profound and prized joys in life is to bring a smile to Jo’s every day.  That goal is accomplished through “Elaine Benes type dances”, dad jokes, make you want to pee tickles, you can’t make it up people on the job stories, in-law jokes (oh wait, scratch that one, I will get in trouble for saying that her and my sisters), staring at her for no reason for an extended period time, teasing, and being a regular goofy husband/ dad/ -mmmm just being a man in general. I have been blessed because she puts up with me and my attempts towards humor.  Her response varies.  Sometimes it’s a sigh, an “ugh”, “seriously”, “grow up, Bobby”, “sad”,  “OMG”.  But always a smile.  “Bingo!”  We all can stand for a well meaning daily dose of humor.  Proverbs 17:22 says, a joyful heart is good medicine. My encouraging word today is to bring some joy and laughter to those around you.  Ab...

Good Son-Day!!! Holidazzle Me! Going on every weekend through 12/18/22 Minnesota's Greatest Fireworks Finale at the Holidazzle Fireworks are shot off at 7:15 PM on Saturdays during the event The Well-being of the believer One of the more recent work office phrases is “well-being”.   At work, we pursue this fort customers and employees.   What exactly is this relatively new concept?   It is a state of being comfortable, healthy physically and mentally, and happy.   Clinically speaking, well-being is a positive outcome that is meaningful for people and for many sectors of society, because it tells us that people perceive that lives are going well. Dimensions of well-being include:        Physical (healthy) Emotional (feeling good) Social (a sense of belonging to a community and contributing to it) Environment (where and how we live),     Intellectual (active mind, expanding knowledge, creative thinking)     Occ...
