The Well-being of the believer

One of the more recent work office phrases is “well-being”.  At work, we pursue this fort customers and employees.  What exactly is this relatively new concept?  It is a state of being comfortable, healthy physically and mentally, and happy.  Clinically speaking, well-being is a positive outcome that is meaningful for people and for many sectors of society, because it tells us that people perceive that lives are going well.

  • Dimensions of well-being include:
  • Physical (healthy)
  • Emotional (feeling good)
  • Social (a sense of belonging to a community and contributing to it)
  • Environment (where and how we live),
  • Intellectual (active mind, expanding knowledge, creative thinking)
  • Occupational (using your gifts, skills, and talent)
  • Financial (you are content with your earnings)
  • Spiritual (following God’s guidance, HIS will, HIS principles, or HIS values that give direction to your life)

Let’s focus on the last dimension, spiritual.  Just to be clear God cares about your well-being and is vigil and diligent at manifesting it in your life.

Romans 8:26

And we know  [with great confidence]   that God   [who is deeply concerned about us]   causes all things to work together [ as a plan] for GOOD for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.

Okay, so you are saying, what and where is the plan. Just a moment of reverence and supplication (I just like to say this word).  It just means to earnestly and humbly ask God for something.  So, come before His throne and ask and Bible says this, and mind you this is today’s key scripture . . .

Psalm 16:11

GOD, you make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

This passage is the epitome of well-being for the believer. With Roman 8:26 and Psalm 16:11 in play those other dimensions will fall in place; thus a more than happy individual.

This is an Advent season message.  One the Gifts Jesus brings to us is JOY.  Better yet we get the full joy package according to Psalm 16:11----- "in your presence there is a fullness of Joy".
