Only The Powerful

Image
Take a Son-Day Drive on This Lovely Day Summer Vibes Laughter is Good for the Heart How Our Summer is Going Only The Powerful  The entire world classifies people into hierarchies based job, residence, earnings, assets, weight, athleticism, height, and color to name an obvious few.  If you do not have the right previous descriptors you can be deemed by society as less desirable, unworthy, or a write off. Recently, I sat in on a conversation with some employees outside one of our buildings.  The conversation turned to a Minneapolis suburb called "Blaine".  They talked about the vivid dichotomy between the impoverished trailer parks and the lavish homes in the new developments.  I then cringed when I heard them refer to the people residing in the trailer homes as "White Trailer Trash" and this was uttered by a person of the same color. I spoke up and said I was uncomfortable with the conversation and that ended it. Our Lord did not create a physical being...

Usher In

Image
Truly a Good Son-Day, on the Monday! Happy Memorial Day A Natural Champion Usher In Last Saturday, Jo and I attended a WNBA game, Minnesota Lynx versus the New York Liberty.  While the action on the court floor was enjoyable, especially since our local team pummeled the visitors, what eventually became intolerable was the constant piped in sound.  There was not a second before, during, and after the game when the sound system was silent. I am sure the business powers that be know music creates an atmosphere conducive to celebration.  Their aim is to make the fans feel like they're grooving at a club. Multiple times, sound levels exceeded 100 decibels. Anything over 90 db can cause permanent hearing loss. Despite the potential of hearing loss to thousands of fans at any sporting event the incessant piped sound continues.  It makes fans happy and happy people exert energy cheering and need to replenish this energy at the concessions stands or b...

Can We Get Past This?

Image
Good Son-Day!!! Do I Trust Her Can We Get Past This? Eve - Gullible  Adam - Culpable Abraham - Not trusting, Liar Sarah - Not trusting; Tried to cover her faults by blaming others. Isaac - Liar Rebekah - Bad mother, conniving  Jacob - Liar Joseph - Insensitive Jerk, Braggart  Moses - Defiant, Negligent Husband and Father Aaron - Compromiser  Gideon - Weak and Fearful Samuel - Bad Father David - Lustful, murderer, adulterer, bad father Peter - Anger Management Issues Judas - Traitor Matthew - Greedy, He enriched himself at the expense of his countrymen Paul - Christian killer What a hot mess of people.  It’s a wonder anything was achieved in biblical times with all the flawed individuals listed above. Yet, these same people played a significant role in shaping the core of who we are as believers today. Most past historians do not recount the faults of their leaders.  Instead they try to portray them as near perfect.  The Bible does not.  The...

The Nudge

Image
Good Son-Day . . . is any day really. Go Go Gophers!!! The Nudge A day late due to being on the road. Uploading this week’s entry from Missouri. To open, it’s important to find comfort in knowing whatever God is asking you to do, He equips you to do it. Last week, the humility emphasis was waiting on God.  His timeline supersedes your timeline.  This week, the humility emphasis is on promptly answering the call when He summons you.  Again, His timeline supersedes your timeline. Some of things we may say when God nudges us: I have heard from Him yet I am not ready I am not sensing it in my spirit I need to pray on it some more How do I know it’s Him It’s too much It really does not make a difference Too soon Too much The timing is not right I cannot do it alone Are you sure that’s the word Things are good as they are, why change it I am not in the right place to do what He has asked God will not ask you to do something you are incapable of doing.  Even if you d...

When Taking Control of Your Life Goes Bad

Image
Good Son-Day!!! It's Fair to Say a Good Time Was Had by All When Taking Control of Your Life Goes Bad Psalm 37:1 Be still in the presence of the  Lord ,  and wait patiently for him to act. Lamentations 3:25  The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him True humility manifests itself in the form of patience in God.  Impatience actually is the opposite.  It is a manifestation of a person's arrogance. Quite frankly, impatience is when you are telling God that your timeline, your will, your plan, and what you think is best for your life supersedes and is better than God's timing, will, and plan for you.  The king of Israel was a man who was overly confident in appointment as king and impatient with God.  Let’s examine the folly of his impatience with God. 1 Samuel 10:8   Go down to Gilgal ahead of me. I will join you there to sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings. You must wait for seven days until I arriv...
