The Nudge
Good Son-Day . . . is any day really.
Go Go Gophers!!!
The Nudge
A day late due to being on the road. Uploading this week’s entry from Missouri.
To open, it’s important to find comfort in knowing whatever God is asking you to do, He equips you to do it.
Last week, the humility emphasis was waiting on God. His timeline supersedes your timeline. This week, the humility emphasis is on promptly answering the call when He summons you. Again, His timeline supersedes your timeline.
Some of things we may say when God nudges us:
I have heard from Him yet
I am not ready
I am not sensing it in my spirit
I need to pray on it some more
How do I know it’s Him
It’s too much
It really does not make a difference
Too soon
Too much
The timing is not right
I cannot do it alone
Are you sure that’s the word
Things are good as they are, why change it
I am not in the right place to do what He has asked
God will not ask you to do something you are incapable of doing. Even if you do not see the possibility or endgame of what He is asking. Rest assured He can. Furthermore, our all powerful God can overcome any obstacle, be it yours or anyone—anything else. Have a little faith in Him that this is not His first rodeo in impacting lives. Old school scripture in a new translation (NLT), Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see, Hebrews 11:1. God can see what you cannot and He is faithful to complete it in you. Be confident of this, He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus, Philippians 1:6.
The nudge expectation is not complicated. When God calls us to do something, you respond promptly to his timing; not before and not late.
Take note of James and John in Matthew 4:21- 22
21 A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too. 22 They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind.
Note the quality of the response.
No 20 questions
No hesitancy
No scoffing
They left family behind, not easy. There was a price.
They immediately answered the request from God
They were resolute— determined and unwavering
I want to highlight that Christ called them where they were at. Meaning, He did not wait until they were perfect. After all, they are referred to as the “Sons of Thunder”, which is a reference to their bold and aggressive personalities. in Mark 3:17. Just a glimpse of what Christ was working with. The Thunder Boys asked Jesus to let them bring down fire from heaven to destroy a Samaritan village that rejected them. (Luke 9:51-56). Christ knew what He was dealing with and He knew what they would become.
Have faith in God to deal with your “why I can’t” and you will love the results when you say yes.
Next up—-saying yes with a quality response.
Song of the Week
