EPIC

Image
Good Son-Day, Indeed!!!   Christmas Time in the City Epic For the last, six days, most of the United States was gripped in an epic polar vortex.   Temperatures in Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama plummeted to 10 degrees in some places.   Here in the Upper Midwest, we saw temps drop to -11, but the true antagonist in the weather story was the biting icy wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.   The real feel on your skin temp was -30.   Oh, and we have a new weather term, ground blizzards ……….what?   Stop it already weather terrorists. Employees where I work were looking for ways to stay home and get paid.    Ummmmm, no. For those of us who seen a multiple stretches of weeks on end of below zero weather, we say, suck it up, get to work and do your job. Oddly, I have cleared my driveway more times this last week, than I did all last winter season.   As result, I have been burning   my “Brown Fat” (Google it) and building some resistance to the temps.   I am now looking forw

Intangible Asset

Good Son-day, late night edition!   Choo Choo, The Holiday Train The Intangible Asset Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill toward men who rest in His favor.   As part of a CEU, I enrolled into, yet another accounting course.   One of the terms you will encounter in an accounting course is “goodwill”.   From an accounting perspective, the term means,   when a business is acquired, a buyer pays more than the market value of the business’ identifiable assets and liabilities (i.e., debts). The amount that is paid in excess is known as goodwill. Unlike tangible assets such as buildings and equipment, goodwill is an intangible asset. It cannot be sold separately from the business.   The value of goodwill for a business can be hard to define as it doesn’t generate any money per se.   Apple, Mercedes Benz, Macy’s, Gabberts, . . . etc., have a brand name that has goodwill.   People see value in it.   They trust it and will pay more for it.   It is c

The Well-Being of the Believer

Good Son-Day!!! Holidazzle Me! Going on every weekend through 12/18/22 Minnesota's Greatest Fireworks Finale at the Holidazzle Fireworks are shot off at 7:15 PM on Saturdays during the event The Well-being of the believer One of the more recent work office phrases is “well-being”.   At work, we pursue this fort customers and employees.   What exactly is this relatively new concept?   It is a state of being comfortable, healthy physically and mentally, and happy.   Clinically speaking, well-being is a positive outcome that is meaningful for people and for many sectors of society, because it tells us that people perceive that lives are going well. Dimensions of well-being include:        Physical (healthy) Emotional (feeling good) Social (a sense of belonging to a community and contributing to it) Environment (where and how we live),     Intellectual (active mind, expanding knowledge, creative thinking)     Occupational (using your gifts, skills, and talent) Financial

The Will Smith Syndrome - America's Unwillingness to Exercise Grace

Good Son-Day!! Happy Birthday First, a happy December birthday shout out to my dear siblings, Carmen 3rd, Alex 7th, and Roma 9th! Will Smith Syndrome - America’s Unwillingness to Exercise Grace In this link, https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/29/opinions/will-smith-slap-oscars-scandal-filipovic/index.html , you will see a link to a CNN posting that shows Will Smith in an interview.  He is speaking about the “Slap”.  He explains his behavior in a manner that is accountable and apologetic.  No excuses. Very contrite. Very humble. Americans already are saying, he is just trying to get back in our good graces; so, we will go see his movies again.  In fact, he has a movie that premiered 12/2/22 on Apple TV, “Emancipation”.  We are questioning the motives behind the apology. Image consultants are telling him to stop apologizing because it will lose its impact.  They point to multiple celebrities who made public mistakes simply by doing nothing.  Case in point, Hulk Hogan, “Dog”, Mel Gibson
