Good Son-Day!!! Jo's Vegas and Cali Excursion A Pampering God For four hours yesterday and seven today, I was a frozen Bob-sicle as I was out coaching 6, 7, and 8th grades in their final games.  Got in at 7 PM tonight.   Now my focus shifts to spending an abundance of my time with Jo.  I am sure she is looking forward to me being home and interrupting her Hallmark “Christmas-in-every-month” marathon 24/7. Last week, the focus was on  taking some time and effort to pamper yourself .  This week we have a similar theme.  The switch up is letting God pamper you.  He knows your stresses, your needs and when you need a little TLC. Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Jesus is offering to carry your burden and resol

Go Ahead and Pamper Yourself------The importance of Self-care

Good Son-Day!!! The Court-side Life Go Ahead and Pamper Yourself Quite often from the pulpit you hear about sacrifices, unselfishness, unrequited love, and relentless service to others.  Things I wholly support and things you practice one way or another every day.  I can genuinely say I have never heard a preacher promote self-care.  The closest thing I have heard about is about things in life you must refrain from or do in moderation. The self-care I am referring to focuses on and dare I say doing things you like.  Indulging in food, activities, and travel that energize you.  Here is guilt free permission to pamper yourself.  Pampering yourself is not selfish or indulgent. It's an essential part of self-care that can have a positive impact on your mental health and overall well-being. Taking the time to pamper yourself can reduce stress, improve self-esteem, enhance your mood, promote better sleep, and provide time for self-reflection. Loving yourself is inferred multiple times

Can We Get Past This?

Good Son-Day!!! Do I Trust Her Can We Get Past This? Eve - Gullible  Adam - Culpable Abraham - Not trusting, Liar Sarah - Not trusting; Tried to cover her faults by blaming others. Isaac - Liar Rebekah - Bad mother, conniving  Jacob - Liar Joseph - Insensitive Jerk, Braggart  Moses - Defiant, Negligent Husband and Father Aaron - Compromiser  Gideon - Weak and Fearful Samuel - Bad Father David - Lustful, murderer, adulterer, bad father Peter - Anger Management Issues Judas - Traitor Matthew - Greedy, He enriched himself at the expense of his countrymen Paul - Christian killer What a hot mess of people.  It’s a wonder anything was achieved in biblical times with all the flawed individuals listed above. Yet, these same people played a significant role in shaping the core of who we are as believers today. Most past historians do not recount the faults of their leaders.  Instead they try to portray them as near perfect.  The Bible does not.  The Bible is honest and true. This is a testame

For Those in Need, The Doctor Makes House Calls

Good Son-Day!!! A day late due to football commitments, mentoring commitments, and a hospital visit. The Maize Maze For Those in Need, the Doctor Makes House Calls Yesterday, I was on the sideline watching our 8th grade squad battle their sister team from Champlin Park.  The teams were for the most part evenly matched. Except for one, parent support in the bleachers; in particular a male parent or guardian figure. In the last ten years, this trend has increased.  What we are seeing more in practices are players challenging coaches, taking swings at coaches, and shutting down when a coach provides guidance about on the field and off the field behavior.  Our coaches growing weary of doing more and more parenting and less things related to football. Don’t get me wrong, BP coaches genuinely care about the general well-being of each kid.  I have seen them drop money and time on our kids time after time.  Yet they alone cannot remedy the numerous issues that are home based.   One of our kids
