Hedge of Protection

Image
GOOD SON-DAY!!!! “TILL” The story, acting (Danielle Deadwyler and Jalyn Hill),  costumes, and cinematography were superb.  Oscar-worthy for best picture and best actress, best supporting actor, best director, best costumes, and cinematography.   I was genuinely moved by the film.  Something that has not happened to me since, "Do The Right Thing". Getting Out There Hedge of Protection ----- Quick context for title.   It is a term derived from Job 1:10  “Have you not put a hedge of protection around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. For the last two years, I have seen a rise in parents and kids with short tempers and using violence as a means a coping mechanism.   Last week, I was at Brooklyn Park (BP) Central Park observing an eighth grade between BP and Minneapolis Phelps Neighborhood (southside Minneapolis) from the observation tower.   The game was non-des

Our Olive Shoot

Good Son-day! First Match Our Olive Shoot Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Psalm 128:3 An olive tree trunk with an olive shoot Quick context for scripture: Judges 9:9 says that oil was used to honor God and men. The olive tree is cherished and loved for what it gives the nation of Israel. The olive shoots were the young branch-to-be's growing off the main branches.   Our little olive plants should be cherished and loved for what they can do for the kingdom of God. Last Wednesday, I had to attend a farewell function for my HR Business Partner at the Pinstripe restaurant in Edina.   As one might expect, the gathering was full of labor relation and HR staffers.   One of my direct reports also attended the meeting and greeted as I entered Pinstripe. My employee said you need to meet a several HR and LR staffers never met before.   I asked for “networking purposes?”.   She said kind of, but i

The Thrill is On!

Good Son-Day! A Touch of Melanin on the North Shore! Gurl Got Kind of 90's Moves  video link The Thrill is On With the first snowfall of the season, the social media platforms were bombarded with snow co vered lawn photos. Including the one below from my sister.   The first snow sprinkling always carries a special mystique for its beautiful contrast against the green grass and autumn leaves at their peak colors. Even though snuggled up in our sweat tops and thick cotton socks inside our warm homes, we still get a thrill of that initial coating.   The Weather Station forecast for the next 10 days are temps in the 50 to 70 degree range.  In other words, no snow in the next two weeks.  When the snowfall happens it will not cause a stir on the Internet.  The thrill is gone and mystique cannot be captured again until this time next year. A walk with Christ never looses it appeal; it’s always a thrill.  Psalm 92:4, “You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy

There is Always Hope in Christ

GOOD SON-DAY! October Fling There is Always Hope in Christ "Worship the LORD your God, and His blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you." Exodus 23:25 I open with that scripture to declare the authority God has over disease and sickness. I will bolster it with this passage, “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise." Jeremiah 17:14.  I want you to have comfort in the knowledge that you may turn to God for any kind of help including healing. Last night, as I was perusing social media notifications, I was genuinely moved by my sister’s Facebook posting about my niece.  The core of her message was about the courage and perseverance my niece displayed during a time physical crisis. It was about how my niece triumphed over the stacked odds. This week, my sister was battling with some critical health procedures. Those in knowledge were most assuredly praying for the success

Let's Be Civil About This

Good-SonDay! This week Coolio passed away at age 59.  I never followed him.  I know he is best known for his song “Gangster’s Paradise.  I do know him for one thing . . . the best theme song ever.  Here is his theme song for the show “Keenan & Kel”. Tee Time Let’s Be Civil About This The application of Christian civility can be done in peculiar ways.  Jo and I have lived in our house for 33 years.  In that time we established cordial relationships with our neighbors.  One of my neighbors was my biology lab partner in high school. Two of his sons, I have officiated their weddings. Two of my neighbors are openly conservative Christians. We connect occasionally when I get the mail or when I go for walks.  We conduct the normal causal quick talk and will venture every now and then into religion and politics.  Never straight forward, but the conversation will have a right slant. I usually just listen, I do not want to get into a deep discussion with them because the tone
