The Thrill is On
With the first snowfall of the season, the social media platforms were bombarded with snow covered lawn photos. Including the one below from my sister.
The first snow sprinkling always carries a special mystique for its beautiful contrast against the green grass and autumn leaves at their peak colors. Even though snuggled up in our sweat tops and thick cotton socks inside our warm homes, we still get a thrill of that initial coating.
The Weather Station forecast for the next 10 days are temps in the 50 to 70 degree range. In other words, no snow in the next two weeks. When the snowfall happens it will not cause a stir on the Internet. The thrill is gone and mystique cannot be captured again until this time next year.
A walk with Christ never looses it appeal; it’s always a thrill. Psalm 92:4, “You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done”.
The key to perpetual thrill is your perspective of God. It is one thing to believe in Him; it’s another thing to like Him. It’s one thing to serve God; and again, another thing to like Him. Point—— It’s easy to like the Lord because He first loved us, 1 John 4:19, “We love because He first loved us”.
When you like something, it is not unusual to surround yourself with media and books to learn more about what you like. You immerse yourself into your passion. The same is true in building like of God. Immerse yourself in the Good Book. Being an aspiring follower of Christ back in the day was challenging because you had just the shakespearean translation of the Bible in the King James Version. Well written and poetic, but hard to read everyday.
This not the case anymore with more than 40 translations. You can hunker down everyday and allow the Word fuse to itself to your being. You can enjoy the life enriching passages that bring a zing of inspiration to you anytime you open the book and peruse the pages. Psalms 1:1-3, “How well God must like you. You thrill to God’s Word, you chew on Scripture day and night”.
Tip, save on your laptop or cell phone a link for Biblegateway.com. Search the site to find a translation that will help you sustain a consistent reading routine. You will find faith coming to you in large doses and the pure fun of a blessed lifestyle.
