Healing Requested!

Image
Good Son-Day!!!! Ice Castles on the Lake Healing Requested Last year, Memphis had one of the highest murder rates in the country.  Never thought the men in blue would be contributing to the rate.  The world is once again grappling with the pain of seeing those who are sworn to protect and serve lie and kill. A man should not die from a routine traffic stop. This has happened to often, even here in Falcon Heights.  The one common theme with the killings, it is an African-American whose life is lost. The Bible talks about violent ways of the world in Hosea 4:1-2, There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. My words here are short and simple. Let us all pray that our training and management will change so African-American lives matter. Also, pray for the family of Tyre Nichols. Only HE can bring healing to Memphis and the family.

Good Son-Day!!!! B-day bob Next up . . . The Adventure that is 2023; All Aboard! First, I want to say thanks to all of you for your B-Day greetings. One set of sisters called me on the phone and made me laugh for about 15 minutes.   It was a very charming, giggly,   and warm call. It was a nice gift. One that I am treasuring. Birthdays have been celebrated for at least 4,000 plus years, probably a lot longer.    We know the Pharaoh of Joseph’s time celebrated one.   In Genesis 40:20, Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.   Life is meant to be celebrated. With one more year in the books, I am grateful for family, friends, and the Lord who makes life worth living. My response for blessing me is to bless Him.   Psalm 91:16, With long life, I will satisfy him (insert your name) and show him (insert your name here)   m

CHETH, My Portion

GOOD SON-DAY!!!! SOUTHSIDE GIRL PERSONIFIED     CHETH – MY PORTION In the early 70’s coming up in the old school church, you know the church where practically your entire weekend was sitting in the church basement watching your mother participate in choir practice, cooking pies, mac & cheese, and cakes in the basement church kitchen.   Food you would never see the light of day because it was other church families. After this effort, some of the saints would assemble in the sanctuary pews and start talking about families, recipes, and of course, as I remember, the Lawd.   One of the catch phrases, I would hear tossed every so often was, “Lord, He is my portion”.   I was like what???? Is Lord parceled out like a spoon full of mashed potatoes? Later in life, I heard the same phrase again.   I did not understand and did not question.   To me it was church cannon, that is, a collection of church phrases that are considered to be authoritative.   You don’t question, but it

Good Son-Day!!! Sun Over Fun & Moon Over Minny Know Your True Source The pictures above speak to the issues we are all seeing with grocery stores, big box stores, auto dealerships, property tax bills, childcare, and utility bills.  Who would have thought egg prices would double ($6 for dozen eggs) in a mere two weeks due a bird flu.  Even cat milk is negatively impacted.  The cat milk prices you see above skyrocketed from $9.99 to $31.41 in a few hours. Inflation (sustained price increase) is not a new economic phenomenon.  It is something we have little control over and requires more research and discipline as you shop.  Inflation occurred during biblical times.   For example, when the Aramians laid siege to Samaria, the capital of the Northern Kingdom, t he Israelites experienced extreme inflation. The siege led to a lack of goods and inflation.  Per 2 Kings 6:2, the siege lasted so long that a donkey’s head sold for eighty pieces of silver (today's money---$9,400), and a cu

Anyway is a GOOD SON-DAY!   Packed in Purple Juice Yes, Now Go and Do the Same . . . with Passion The Holidays allow me time to catch up on some shows on my playlist.   One of them is Abbott Elementary.   I binge watched 1.5 seasons of the show.   The premise of the show is about a teacher, Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson), who is fresh out of college and taking on her first teaching job at Philadelphia's Willard R. Abbott Elementary School, a predominantly black, underfunded, and mismanaged Philadelphia public school. Janine is naïve but passionate about the second grade kids she teaches. She will do anything to meet the needs of her kids. She works with a experienced kindergarten self-righteous teacher Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph---The Mighty Quinn),   a tough South-Philly second grade teacher Melissa Schemmenti, a narcissistic school principal Ava Coleman, and recent substitute hire Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams----Everyone Hates Chris) .   A documentary crew
