Go Tell them

Image
It is a Good Son-Day Indeed Your call, Ostentatious Florets or Boujee Blossoms Go Tell Them! Happy Easter, everyone! Oddly, on the Richter scales of the most popular or celebrated holidays scale, the average rank of Easter is #9.  In sequence here are the average rankings: #1 Thanksgiving, 2 Christmas, 3 Halloween, 4 Mothers' Day, 5 Independence Day, 6 Memorial Day, 7 Labor Day, 8 Veterans' Day, 9 Easter. No Easter parade.  No Easter holiday songs channel on Sirius XM.  No fireworks. No memorable Easter movies or TV specials. This is perplexing considering Jesus himself right after the resurrection He said to Mary & Mary, " Go instead to my brothers  and tell them,  ‘I am ascending to my Father  and your Father, to my God and your God." (John 20:17)";   5  The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6  He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.   7  The

Leaving a Legacy

(Every day is a . . . )  Good Son-Day!!! Happy Passion Week Reunion Before the Storm Leaving a Legacy I officiated a memorial service for a neighbor yesterday,  when I was working with the neighbor whose mother had passed.  I learned that no one wanted to come forward and provide a tribute to this 92 year old woman.  From all accounts, she was a wonderful human being. I was puzzled why no family members or friends wanted to come forward in the service. I asked the son of the deceedent to tell me a little bit about his mother and he recounted multiple fond   stories about her.  His wife did likewise quite easily.  In fact, the wife is spearheading all of the service arrangements and the family gathering.  When a daughter-in-law is going all out for mother-in-law that speaks volumes to me about the character of the mother. I get being shy, but this memorial will be conducted in a Maple Grove assisted living facility chapel.  It is quite cozy and probably can seat no more than 50 peopl

Confidence and Deeper Levels of Confidence - Adoration

(Every day is a . . . )  Good Son-Day!!! Prepping for April's Quarry Confidence and Deeper Levels of Confidence - Adoration Next Sunday, we will have the honor and pleasure of celebrating the start of "Passion Week".  I think we are all familiar with the events of that week. I reference the events of that week in the article, "It's the Holy Day Season" two weeks ago. With two weeks to go until Easter, I want to highlight what Jesus was doing in the weeks prior to Passion Week. I will use an approach a homiletics (i.e., the art of preaching or teaching) approach called expository.  This approach usually uses a large section of scripture (text) rather than a single scripture and letting the text create points of the message.  Below, I have inserted the text and my supplemental comments (in red ) to highlight points.  All I am missing is Jo's character, Sister Bobo to do the text reading.    Message point:  Christ's unwavering con

My Strength - Adoration

(Every day is a . . . ) Good Son-Day!!! Tee Time in March My Strength - Adoration Since Jo has retired, she has tendency to go to bed late ⏰.  Occasionally, in the wee hours of the morning, I will hear a muffled giggle or her singing while she wears her headphones.  And you know what that singing sounds like; dissonant tunes.  Sometimes, she doesn't know I am listeningđź‘‚.  I really don't mind because in the midst of her laughter and hymns there is joy.  Jo usually is listening to her favorite genre of music . . . Gospel, the backbone of R&B, Blues, and Rock.  Singing brings joy and joy brings strength.  "The joy of the Lord is My Strength" (Nehemiah 8:10) .  I am married to a woman with Herculean strength. Walk in faith with me for a second.  Christ was secure in His walk with the Father even when He knew His torture and death were imminent.  His literal trial and tribulation did not weaken His resolve.  The 39 whip lashes, crown of thorns, spear in the side, nai
