Bring Some Flavor
This week, the message will shift from God's dynamics to the joy we are directed to bring to others. Christ calls us the salt of the earth. In ancient times, salt was as valuable as money. In fact, in some civilizations, it was used as money.
The first home refrigerator was not available until 1913. During the time of Christ, roughly 30 AD, food was preserved by immersing food items in salt. Salt draws water out of food cells, creating an environment where bacteria can't grow.
More on salt . . .
- Ask any expert beef cooking expert, and they will tell you salt changes the texture of the meat to something more desirable. It can break down tough meat fibers. Make it softer
- Salt releases dopamine, which can make you feel good.
- Salt, in moderation, is necessary for our biological functions, and the brain comes to crave it.
- Salt makes food taste better. While eating at different restaurants this week, I heard my family say multiple times while critiquing the food they were eating that "XXXXX" needs more seasoning. Translation: salt. Many restaurants are cautious in the use of salt to a fault.
You can see where I am going with this. God has brought you joy. Bring joyful flavor into someone's life.
Genesis 21:6 Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.”
We need joy and laughter. It strengthens us to endure tough times and protects us from the attacks of the enemy. Remember, "The joy of the LORD is my strength" (Nehemiah 8:10).
I can remember back in the day, a church mother scolding people for laughing too much. The phrase she would say, "You need to be more sober-minded." My response inwardly was, "What!!!???". I was smart enough not to say what I was thinking in fear of a firey lecture on how to be a firm and stoic Christian. We are constantly faced with serious situations or serious people. Laughter is vitally important in the battle against stress, anxiety, fear, and worry. A dose of joy helps us all weather the day.
We can never get enough of the joy God brings to our lives. It is addictive. Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice" (Philippians 4:4).
Get others addicted to God's joy. Make them laugh!
Last scripture:
Psalm 5:11
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.
Song of the Week - Hallelujah! Sing a New Song to GOD. Sing HIS praise in the assembly of godly people. Psalm 149:1.
"Freedom in This House", 2024, Jonathan Taylor.
This is a Jo type of praise song. Hard drums and cymbals, and a driving rock guitar. You did not know that her, huh?!

Freedom in This House Lyrics
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah,
Hallelujah.
There's a praise that we release
There's an anthem of the free
When you know what you've been rescued from
Worship fills your lungs
It's the sound of the redeemed
Lift your hands, if you've been forgiven
Brought into the land of living
There is freedom in this house
There's a grave, where we used to be
Before grace changed everything
If you know that you've been born again
Come on say amen
It's the sound of the redeemed
Lift your voice, if He's been faithful
Shout it out, tell Him you're grateful
There's freedom in this house
See the chains on the floor
Prison doors open wide
All our hope is restored
What was dead brought back to life
