CELBRATE & EMBRACE: OUR HERITAGE TO PEACE AND HARMONY
GOOD SON-DAY!!!
NYC MINUTE: LIGHTS ON BROADWAY
Black History Month FACTOID:
MLK Jr is the
only American pastor to receive the Nobel Peace Prize . . .
“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word”. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God”. Jesus Christ Matthew 5:9
Thus, MLK Jr =
Child of God. He sought peace and harmony,
not divisiveness.
EMBRACE AND CELEBRATE: HARMONY AND FORGIVENESS
Jo and I crossed
Manhattan off our bucket list. We are
thinking maybe Paris will be next. We will
start saving those Eurodollars.
Jo the Director wanted to see a Broadway play and what better one to see than “Hamilton”. Like most of America, we viewed the original cast performing the play on Disney+. Two Christmases ago, we watched the play on our big screen and surround sound. A blend of fiction, real history, current politics, dancing and of course acting. We both were swept away the performance and production.
At the Richard
Rogers Theatre on Broadway, we were charmed by the experience. There was such a buzz before the play started. We met people from all corners of the planet. All of us waiting in great anticipation of
what we saw on cable. The performance
met our every expectation. The production,
musicians, choreography, acting, and dancing were profoundly precise. What human achievement in the arts!
With all the things I witnessed, the one scene that pierced my tear duct with a tingle was when a broken Hamilton and his wife, Elizabeth grabbed her husband’s hand as a gesture of complete forgiveness. This after Hamilton cheated on her, forsake her for the cause, led the family to bankruptcy, and contributed to the duel, which led to the death of their son.
Last Wednesday was the start of Lenten season with Ash Wednesday. The base of our spiritual salvation and core of the formerly enslaved peoples in America heritage is to forgive when there is every right to do anything but. I get it, man’s urge is to strike back. But Christ says this about our transgressors . . .
Luke 6:29 Whoever hits you on one side of the face, turn so he can hit the other side also. Whoever takes your coat, give him your shirt also.
Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
These are words people in this day and age are saying (an I have heard it) “Nope I don’t think so”, or “I wish she would’’. This is a rejection of the divine components of God’s plan for peace. I would say be careful, you do not want to be on the wrong side of the Word, the Truth, the Way, and the Life.
The Tribe in America from the Mother Continent have such a noble history of trying co-exist peacefully with all who inhabit the land first belonging to the American indigenous. The Tribe celebrates and embraces a factor of love.
Now, my poetic license from "Hamilton" . . .
"It must be nice, it must be nice to have Jesus on your side"
SONG OF THE WEEK https://youtu.be/ZdydCkQzMGc
“In You”, 2022,
Brianna Donaldson.
Friday night, while in NY, Darlene, Jo, and I debated performances we had seen in the city. It was a fun round of airing out thoughts of what constitutes a great performance.
This song is
about the vocal. Brianna carries the
song with skill and not the sound guy.
Two instruments accompany her, but ever so gently. Moving lyrics. Go get your Pepsi, tea, or coffee. Enjoy
"IN YOU" LYRICS
What will you
do when the world stops spinning?
What will you when
this life stops thrilling you?
Will you stop
sleeping, believing?
What will you hope
in when your job stops working?
What will you
love when that love stops giving you the feeling you’ve been feeling?
There’s got to be
more, something so real.
Something that’s
sure. Something that’s pure.
There’s got to
be more
Something you
can depend on. Something you can believe in.
And I know I
found it in You. Oh I, I found it in You. I found it You.
When all your
friends start treating you like a foe,
And life give
you grief, you can’t take anymore.
Then will you let
it go?
When disappointments
start coming from within,
Who will come
to your rescue when you’re struggling?
Stop your
fighting and let Him in.
Cause there’s
got to be more.
There’s got to be
more, something so real.
Something that’s
sure. Something that’s pure.
There’s got to
be more
Something you
can depend on. Something you can believe in.
And I know I
found it in You. Oh I, I found it in You. I found it You.
Don’t you want more?
Yeah, don’t you
want more?
There’s more to
this life than you’ve been living.
In fact you
haven’t lived until you leave this world behind
‘Cause
everything else is temporary you’ll find
His Kingdom is
the only thing of unmovable design.
Hope I can encourage
you to tray
Will you try
Him?
There’s got to be
more, something so real.
Something that’s
sure. Something that’s pure.
There’s got to
be more
Something you
can depend on. Something you can believe in.
And I know I
found it in You. Oh I, I found it in You. I found it You.
