THE REAL DEAL

The Real Deal

Every Sunday, this space is reserved to accentuate the goodness and God, the splendor of being His child, and to celebrate His majesty.

A topic that has not been addressed is God’s existence.  Much of what is written is for naught, if there is not a core belief God exists.  For eons, His existence has been hotly debated.  There are college courses debating His existence.  Philosophy classes either affirm His existence or the contrary.

Today, the Word of God will be used to affirm . . . “His I Am that I Am” (1) because “In the very beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. He was God in the beginning.  All things were made through Him.  Nothing that has been made was made without Him.  Life was in Him, and that life was the light for all people. (2)

  1. Exodus 3:14

  2. John 1:1-2

I digress for a quick moment here. The first short and simple passage is deeply profound and the second cements Christ and His Word and why I always base everything on The Word. I challenge you to do your own research on it. You will be satisfied.

Okay, back to the text. Understanding and grasping the belief of His existence will solidify your belief in, and I will call it out, the invisible aspects of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the trinity of God.  Remember, this is the season of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit (50 days after Easter).

The Bible speaks to the existence of God by declaring His love, power, attributes, blessings, and majesty.  On the other end of the spectrum the Bible in one verse speaks briefly to those who don’t believe in His existence in simple terms, “Only fools think there is no God. People like that are evil and do terrible things. They never do what is right. Psalm 14:1

Some say it takes blind faith to believe God exists.  Others say, there is enough physical evidence that it does not take any faith to believe in His existence.

I will affirm both, it does take a little bit of faith to know and please Him. Hebrews 11:1-3 and 6 says this . . .

Faith is what makes real the things we hope for. It is proof of what we cannot see. God was pleased with the people who lived a long time ago because they had faith like this.

Faith helps us understand that God created the whole world by His command. This means that the things we see were made by something that cannot be seen.

Without faith no one can please God. Whoever comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who sincerely try to find him.

Mankind has struggled with the unseen nature of God; which can lead to unbelief or leeriness in leaning into belief in Him.  When you understand trust in God’s tangible and intangible nature is always good and beneficial, belief in His existence comes quite easily. Romans 1:20 confirms this thought . . .

There are things about God that people cannot see—His eternal power and all that makes Him God. But since the beginning of the world, those things have been easy for people to understand. They are made clear in what God has made.

To strengthen your belief in His existence, it may help to understand the reason for your existence. God is not shy about why you were created. Hint—-He loves His creation . . .

Revelations 4:10,

They say: `Our Lord and God, it is right for you to have praise and honor and power. You made all things. They were made and have life because you wanted them.'

There is nothing to lose in believing God’s and everything to gain.  Again this space will continue to emphasize the “gain of God”.

As we close, I want us to do what our own personal spirit was designed to do, honor God. I will quote one the greatest literary writers of all time, the prophet Isaiah (40:26).

Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? HE brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of HIS great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.

Look (around) to believe!

SONG OF THE WEEK

“GOD IS”, 1979, “It’s a New Day” Album, James Cleveland and the Southern California Choir.

This one of my favorite songs to revel in the existence of God.  It’s simple, moving, and it builds as it flows. Wonderful choir song and great production. The bass kicks and the strings ground it. The lead singers bring the anthem to life.  Turn up the volume, please and tear up with me as we honor God together. Sorry, I cannot help it; cannot contain; cannot hide it; won’t apologize for it!  Someone holler back!

GOD IS Lyrics

God is

My protection

God is

My all and all

God is

My light in darkness, oh

God, God is, He

He is my all and all

God is

My joy in the time of sorrow

God, God is

My all and all

God is

My today and my tomorrow

God my God is

My all and all

God is the joy and the strength of my life

(God is) He removes all pain misery and strife

(God is) He promised to keep me

Never to leave me

He'll never ever come short of His word

(God is) I've got to fast and pray

Stay in this narrow way

(God is) Keep my life clean every day

(God is) I want to go with Him when He comes back

I've come to far

And I'll never turn back

God is

God is

God is

God is

God is my all and all

God is the joy and the strength of my life

(God is) He removes all pain misery and strife

(God is) He promised to keep me

Never to leave me

He'll never ever come short of His word

(God is) I've got to fast and pray

Stay in this narrow way

(God is) Keep my life clean every day

I want to go with him when He comes back

I've come to far

And I'll never turn back

God is

God is

God is

God is (oh, God is)

God is my all and all

God is, yes He is

God is my all and all

God is my all and all
