Happy Son-Day!!!!

Cresting

What Happens When the Flesh is Willing?

Last week, I referenced a passage that came from the time when Jesus went into the Garden of Gethsemane to pray before He was arrested.  Before He prayed, He asked Peter, James, and John to be close by and pray with Him.

After praying for a while He returned to His disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” He asked Peter.  “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

When He came back, He again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.  So He left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.  Matthew 26:40-44

What happens when the flesh is willing?  The flesh is controlled by the soul of man.

Okay, what is the soul of man?  It is your inner-life in relation to your own experience: your mind, heart, will, and imagination. It also includes your thoughts, desires, passions, and dreams. It is independent.  You control it. God can impact it, but you have to allow Him to do so.

Last week, I mentioned your spirit has the breath of God coursing through it and wants to please God, be with God.  That’s its nature.  If you're willing, the soul can be in that same place.

Now I will shift to two willing souls whose lived experiences speaks to this, Mother Helen Parker and Dr. Jill L. Jackson.  This is an early Mother Day appreciation to the two.

I glean the good from what I see from others.  Both grab a hold of God and never waivered.  You can correct me if I am wrong, but you better affirm me if I am right.  They both are. . .

  • Pray warriors

  • Worshippers—-BTW, they’re both a joy to watch when they’re worshipping

  • Committed to heaven-worthy lifestyle

  • Speak the word

  • Heralds of the Lord—--that is they speak the good news of God and encourage others to love Him like they do

  • Matriarchs—---they love and support their families

  • Legacy builders—-what they have done above is being passed to our children and their children

I did not say they were perfect, but the body of work they’ve done in life clearly has the Lord saying, “Well done good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).  God has been saying this of them for more than 50 years.

They’ve achieved this regard from God because their soul, heart, mind, intellect, and will is compliant to the will of God. Remember the Lord’s prayer, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.  Matthew 6:11.

This week Jo and I visited both women of God and you saw their will in action.  Mother Parker requested her daily dose of Shirley Caesar before settling in for the night, and Dr. Jill is still preaching and teaching as recently as two weeks ago.

Every week the hope here is the Word, the scriptures planted here will root up in your life on their own and greatly impact your life for the best.  You also glean from those who model a godly lifestyle and achieve the same thing, Paul, “Follow me, as I follow Christ” 1 Corinthians 11:1.

Much love and adoration to two women who have souls to emulate.

SONG OF THE WEEK

"Something Better", 2022, Bianca, Tauren Wells. Kind of a poppish gospel

Lyrics
It's been a couple years I've been on my ownNow I know that I'm not aloneYou've given me a reason to carry on, to carry on, eah, yeahYeah, everything is different now-a-daysI lost a few ones along the wayI had to learn to trust it'll be okay, it'll be okay
Every moment I was sure I wouldn't make it throughI was safe because of you
I don't know how, but you take all my painAnd you turn it into something betterOoh, something betterThere's not a tear that you let go to wasteNo, you turn it into something betterOoh, something better
You say you never leave and you really don'tA kind of love that I've never knownYou took over my heart and you made a homeYou made a home
And all the broken pieces withinYou put them together againAnd with you a new story begins, begins
I don't know how, but you take all my painAnd you turn it into something betterOoh, something betterThere's not a tear that you let go to wasteNo, you turn it into something betterOoh, something better
Ha, ha, ha, ha, haa ah, something betterHa-a, ha, ha, ha, ah ah, something better
Something in the way you moveI never understoodThat it all works for my good (yeah)Every moment I was sure I wouldn't make it throughI was safe because of you
I don't know how, but you take all my painAnd you turn it into something betterOoh, something betterThere's not a tear that you let go to wasteNo, you turn it into something betterOoh, something better
Ha, ha, ha, ha, haa ah, something betterHa-a, ha, ha, ha, ah ah, something betterHa, ha-a, ha-a, ha-a, haa ha, something betterHa-a, ha-a, ha-a, ha-a, ah ah, something better-uh ah
