When Hearing Voices Inside is Good For Your Well-being

Last weekend, we landed in Baltimore and then took a train to Washington D.C.. The nation’s capital is a great place to visit with its countless landmarks. We did not have much time to sightsee due to the weather,

What we did see covered the spectrum from fascinating to painful. The fascinating was the Washington Monument, The Capitol, and The Supreme Court Building.  The β€œpainful” was an endless number of homeless men within one block of the capitol.

Some incredible form of trauma brought these men to the present state they’re in.  So many lives in dire straits and my only available contribution to help these men was prayer.  What you could clearly see in both DC and Baltimore is the ever increasing disparities between the haves and the have nots.  All this in one of the richest countries in the world.

In both cities πŸ™οΈ it was not unusual to see one or two homeless men at each intersection displaying obvious signs of mental health symptoms. The most common symptom was men talking to themselves.  They were responding to inner voices. Some will say they were hearing God.

The genuine voice of God does not drive men crazy.  Quite the contrary.  When the Holy Spirit speaks His purpose is to lead us into all truth and His goodness.  This can happen through prayer, contemplation and/or time in the Bible. We begin to discern God's voice over the noise of our world as we give time to prayer πŸ™ and word. The Holy Spirit begins speaking to us. We begin to hear God through those around us, circumstances and even our mind.

1 Corinthians 2:14  The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

Hearing God’s voice is not an elusive phenomenon; nor is it difficult

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.

Once you get sensitive to the voice of God, the better you are able to discern his voice through various means. There is that saying, β€œPractice makes perfect”.   That phrase applies here.

2 Peter 1:18-19  We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark placeβ€”until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines[a] in your hearts.

Here is one parting tip to discern the Voice of God.  He speaks clearly through his Word.  Go find God in His own quite living words.

Jeremiah 29:13, You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

SONG OF THE WEEK

β€œUP” 2023, Tauren Wells.

A little positivity with this pop-gospel song. It has happy lyrics and an uplifting beat.  Enjoy.

Up lyrics

Just can't, just can't

Just can't tell at all

Just can't, just can't

Just can't tell at all

Everybody workin' real hard (yeah)

From Wall Street to the small town barber

Everybody in a dark place (yeah)

Crying tears like a river runs

No umbrella and you're caught in the rain

Runnin' low on faith, can I get an amen?

This is for where life is comin' at ya

Hands up, here's your anthem

If you're having a hard day

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

If you're dealing with heartbreak

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

Keep your head high, keep on fighting

'Cause the pressure makes a diamond

Tomorrow's a new day, yeah

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

When the world is feeling heavy (yeah)

Another doomsday news cycle spinnin'

With all the negativity (yeah)

Don't forget you can shut it off

Try to catch your mind when it runs

Easier said than done, can I get an amen? (Amen)

This is for where life is comin' at ya

Hands up, here's your anthem

If you're having a hard day

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

If you're dealing with heartbreak

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

Keep your head high, keep on fighting

'Cause the pressure makes a diamond

Tomorrow's a new day, yeah

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

Tomorrow's a new day

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up, ay

Ain't giving up

Ain't giving up

Ain't giving up

If you're having a hard day

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

If you're dealing with heartbreak

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

Keep your head high, keep on fighting (fighting)

'Cause the pressure makes a diamond

Tomorrow's a new day, yeah

Ain't no way you're giving up, up, up, up, up

Ain't giving up

(Come on, whoo)

Ain't giving up

(Oh)

Ain't giving up

(Whoo)

Ain't giving up, no

Ain't giving up

(Oh-woah)
