Slip Into Your Wilderness

 Good Son-Day!!!

Kansas City Here I Come Part 1

Song of the Week

I am starting with the Song of the Week first as a prelude to the text.

The song is “Yes I do” by Mali Music, 2023.  Lyrics below

Slip Into Your Wilderness

This song reflects the heart of worship we’ve all experienced at one time.  I want you to think back to a time when you approached a literal altar during a powerful worship or praise moment at church.  You and God connected in a way where your surroundings did not matter, only getting to the altar, bending your knees, laying prostrate to Him, and calling out to Him as the Great I am or Abba or Precious Lord.  You said, “Here  am  I ”.  I am not requesting anything other than to be in Your Awesome Presence.

Total unfettered submission with a splendid, indescribable outcome.

Luke 5:16, Jesus, Himself, would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.

These extraordinary moments do not need to be a once in a lifetime experience.  Most of us do not have a literal altar in our homes to do what I described above.  This is not an impediment to being swept away in His Glory.  The key is to create an uninterrupted space in time to come into His presence with humility (i.e., recognizing God’s majesty), an openness to His will, and gratitude for what He is doing for you.  I term all these traits entering God’s presence as this as quality humility.

Psalm 100:4  Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise! Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name!

In our mobile society, a place where you can worship is during your daily commute.  The average commute time in the United States is 27.4 minutes per day.  Instead of listening to a shock jock, a CD, or news.  Turn your audio dial or twist your selector knob to something that will prepare your heart for praise and later for some truly amazing 1:1 worship.

I have an Apple Music subscription that I rely on for new gospel music.  They have a pair of playlists titled “New Gospel Music” and “Gospel Worship”.  Every Wednesday they update the playlist with new songs.

During our six hour journey back to the Twin Cities from Kansas City, Jo and I filled the interior of our car with songs from both playlists.  This is how I heard the song of the week.  They say songs and smells can trigger fond memories.  The ride felt like good times at an old tent revival.

I share this story to help you think creatively on how to carve out some quality humility time with the Creator of All Things.  Some of the best devotion times with God are the shortest ones.

Yes I Do lyrics

And they ask if I did it all for You
Yeah-yeah, yes, I do
And they ask if I give my all to You
Yeah, yes, I do
And I’ve only got three words left for You
Yes, I do

Forever
Yes, I do
Yes, I
Yes, I do
Yes, I

Yes, I do
Yes, I
Yes, I do
Yes, I

Yes
Yes
Yes, I do
Yes, I

Yes
Yes
Yes, I do
Yes, I

Yes, I do
Yes, I
Yes, I do
Yes, I

Yes, I do
Yes, I
Yes, I do
Yes, I

Yes
Yes
Yes, I do
Yes, I

Yes
Yes
Yes, I do
Yes, I do

Yes, I do
Yes, I do, oh
Yes, I do
Yes, I do, oh

Yes, I do
I do, oh
Yes, I do
Yes, I do, oh
