We Are Always in Good Spirit

Last Thursday night, I watched the presidential debates.  The question of advanced age was posed to both candidates.  The childish answers from both men caused me to text a friend and say, "This is embarrassing".  I wonder what the rest of the world is saying in this moment?  It was not a good look for either candidate.  It made me question their competency to lead this country.

I will admit for a moment, I actually felt some anxiousness and thought my options for president are horrible.  We as a nation are not in a good place with either of the two.

Then, I got a prompting in my spirit, "Why are you troubled? When in fact you are always in a good place when you depend on me".

I got checked!

In my weak moment, the Holy Spirit reminded me my foundational hope must not be placed in any man or system. Man and systems can fail. We all know politicians will fail you. Our hope must be placed in Him.  Solid!  

This passage came to me at this time

Put my confidence in a competent and powerful God 

Romans 15:12-13

“The heir to David’s throne will come, and He will rule over the Gentiles.  They will place their hope on Him.”  I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Never forget the God of our peace, who ressurrected from the dead the Great Shepherd is more than capable of handling any tempest civic, social or political unrest with just a Word.

Don't Fret! God's got you!

Isaiah 43: 1-4

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty,    you will not drown.  When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.  I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.  Others were given in exchange for you.  I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me.  You are honored, and I love you.

Don't let FOX, MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, presidential debates put you in a tizzy and oppress you.  They are all about the money and will feed you anything for good ratings.  They do not care about you.  Invest your energy into what the Holy Spirit is doing for you.  He will not have you feeling anxious.  To the contrary. He wants you to have a sense of: Peace, warmth, and calmness. Love, belongingness, and acceptance.  Final passages to this point.

Roman 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
 
Acts 13:52
And the followers of Christ were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

 Good Son-Day - The Start of  Something New Ice Creameisters! Live Roses The day after Christmas, I got a call from a former co-worker I had connected with for about a year or so. I started the conversation by asking about her grandchild and two daughters. Recently, I sat in on a conversation with some employees outside one of our buildings.  The conversation turned to a Minneapolis suburb called "Blaine".  They talked about the vivid dichotomy between the impoverished trailer parks and the lavish homes in the new developments.  I then cringed when I heard them refer to the people residing in the trailer homes as "White Trailer Trash" and this was uttered by a person of the same color.
