Bring It! - Resilience 2025
Humility is the greatest skill set you can possess. It allows you to assess and reflect on who you are and where you are in life. Reflection can be done at any time. Millions of people are doing it now at the beginning of the year in the form of resolutions.
January 10 is "Quitters' Day" because research shows many people abandon their resolutions by then. I, for one, am a believer in anyone's goal setting for a clearer, better life. That goal can be for better health, finances, relationships, and, of course, a better spiritual walk.
Reasons why people quit (per a 2024 Forbes Magazine survey):
- Going solo
- High expectations
- Giving up too easily
- Not enough time
- Not enough money
- No plan
- No motivation
- No self-belief
- Social situations
- Forgetting
- Only 9% of Americans kept their resolution throughout the year.
- Most people drop out from their New Year's resolution on a Friday.
- Three in 10 Americans made a resolution in 2024.
My motivation today is to stir your resident strength to your resolution goals. You know that old saying, "Sometimes you forget what you know." People quit their inspiring resolutions when they learn the goal is unachievable, which is understandable. Some quit resolutions that are challenging but achievable. You have the inner strength to achieve a challenging resolution and the divine strength to achieve unachievable. Here is an encouraging reminder that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you. Philippians 4:13.
A New Testament commandment directs us to show grit, be resolute, and be unwavering in our pursuit of goals that benefit us or others.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord, your labor is not in vain.
You can do it!
You may be thinking I do not know if I can do this. Stop! Instead, think, I am never alone in anything in life. I serve a heavenly master who put the constellation in motion. He is always with me. Therefore, His power and love for me is sufficient for any endeavor. I am more than capable of tackling the most difficult and impossible of circumstances or tasks.
Hebrews 13:21May He equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that's pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.
Speak life to your resolution by quoting the three scriptures above. Doing so infuses hope into your effort. Hope produces motivation. Also, connect with a positive influence in your life who will cheer you on. Good friends and family want the best for you.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
