Is It Football Season Yet - Loving Yourself with a Little Self-Indulgence
The base scripture: love your neighbor as you love yourself (Matthew 22:39).
The base scripture: love your neighbor as you love yourself (Matthew 22:39).
This series of messages is about loving the many facets of yourself so that you can love others better than yourself.
Philippians 2:3-4 3: Don't be jealous or proud; be humble and consider others more important than yourselves. 4 Care about them as much as you care about yourselves.
Caring about yourself is permissible. This can get lost when in our love for others. We can love so hard that our tank storing your selfless ability runs low. To resupply it, sometimes you need to do for yourself. Indulge yourself.
Doing for yourself does not need to be expensive. It means reading a good book, watching a movie, listening to tunes, napping, gaming, traveling, hiking, and working on your hobbies.
To accomplish the above, you likely need space and time. Space means a little solitude.
Mark 6:31 mentions Jesus taking time with his disciples to rest, suggesting the importance of setting aside time for rest and relaxation.
Mark 6:31 Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.
I can tell when Jo needs a little solitude, she will ask me this question, "Is it football season yet?" She recently asked this question a few weeks ago. Jo, it's March. The football season does not start for another four months. Ha!😜
Interpretation - don't you have some other place to hang out? I need some alone time.
No need to get my nose bent out of joint, or my little bitty feelings hurt. No, give that woman as much space as she needs.
She will return to you revigorated and strong. As I say, a strong you is a strong us.
Ecclesiastes 2:24There is nothing better for people than to be happy and enjoy doing the things they do while they're alive. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God.
This verse encourages us to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, but it also implies that these pleasures should be enjoyed in a way that doesn't distract from one's purpose or relationships.
Now take care!
Song of the Week - Hallelujah! Sing a New Song to GOD. Sing HIS praise in the assembly of godly people. Psalm 149:1.
"We Win", 2025, Donald Lawrence, featuring Vincent Bohanan & SOV
Best Donald Lawrence song since his "Giants". It is very uplifting. You will want the play this at least three times because you will win. A new anthem song for somebody out there.
We Win Lyrics
