A Sign of Life All Around Us

In the aftermath of losing a cherished family member, I am coping with grief through multiple means including prayer, conversations, and fond remembrances. One other method has been taking walks with Jo or alone.

Walking in nearby parks achieves both mental and physical fitness.  Typically, what I try walk is 5 kilometers (5K), which equates to 3.11 miles.  Here is where all the IWatch gadgets come into play in terms distance, heartbeat, time, calories burned, steps and now electrocardiograms.  Lots of health toys to push towards wellbeing.

Call me goofy but I recently downloaded a free app that identifies bird calls.  It's called Merlin Bird ID.  I am a casual birder.  I absolutely love this app.  In a walk to the Coon Rapids dam on Thursday It helped me identified the following birds in 5K walk:
  • Robin
  • Blue Jay
  • Bluebird
  • Red Wing Blackbird
  • Northern Cardinal
  • Goldfinch
  • Brown-headed Cowbird
  • House Wren
  • House Finch
  • Wood Peewee
  • Barn Swallow
  • Common Yellowthroat
  • Black-capped Chickadee
  • Great Crested Flycatcher
  • Chimney Swift
And then to boot, a whitetail deer, turkey, Great Blue Heron, Canada goose, beaver, raccoon, Corn Snake and Mallard.  

Not a bad haul of nature viewing in a 40-minute walk.

In my time of solitude, my senses were attuned to finding what nature had to offer.   And I was delivered a smorgasbord of critters.  The walk was teeming with life, which brought me some joy.

All of this was my lead-in to God is teeming with abundant life and comfort.  He is always there if you are attuned to finding Him.

Isaiah 41:10 
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

1 Corinthians 3:16 
Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God's presence is constant and unshakeable.  This fact should be reassuring to anyone needing comfort.

You just need to dial-in and find God.  He's all around us.
Jeremiah 29:13: 
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Proverbs 8:17
I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
 
Acts 17:27: God's purpose was for the nations to seek after Him and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him—though He is not far from any one of us.

God is life and always there.

 Happy Son-Day!!! Ah, early summer. Robin, Cardinal, Blackbird,  & Starling chicks foraging in the front and back yards. A place where you will always find good news. Hanging with My Axe'd Freely You Have Received, Freely Give Many economists are predicting a recession is in the making.  Quick lesson, a recession is defined as two straight quarters of negative value of goods and services produced in the USA (GDP, Gross Domestic Product). Other indicators like employment rates, business investment, and consumer spending also are considered.  A recession causes hardships for almost everyone, especially those whose income is below the Federal Poverty Level (for an individual, $967/month, and a couple, $1,450/month). During the holidays, the public has a more heightened sense towards the needs of impoverished people.  For the other 10 months of the year, less so.  There is a serious struggle for food shelves, clothing resources, and shelters to meet the demands of impoverished people.  I have seen this in my visits to the many community resources in the metro...
