Min Quals. Must Have: Compassion. 

Nice to Have: Generosity

We currently sit in a space where both political parties are leery of the impending impact of the Senate bill.  What everyone says the bill will historically cut Medicaid and thus Medicare spending and benefits.  Additionally, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Food Stamp program, will be cut as well.

I am only focusing on the potential results of the cuts and not the politics.  The results are feared by both parties, and there is drastically less for those in need and the elderly. 

Millions of Americans rely heavily on federal, state, and municipal levels of government for help.  This help is fading in the sunset.  These branches of government will look to only provide essential services soon.  This means more in the way of infrastructure and less on services for the well-being of people.

Here is where we can forsake our responsibilities.  When things get tight for survival, there is a mindset to take care of myself and my own.  I totally understand this thinking.  

The audience I write to each week is comfortable with the existence of God and His vision of what you are to aspire to.  As a believer, you are asked to transcend into the faith, hope, and charity realm (1 Corinthians 13:13).

Christ said there will always be those in need amongst us (John 12:8).

He did not get into who deserves our help or the criteria for helping.  Sometimes, more effort is spent on filtering and judging who needs assistance than on helping.  Stop the fraud, they say. I get it, but we have to be careful; this is not an excuse to hurt a great number of people by withholding donations or funds.

Inside each of us is a measure of Christ's unfailing Love 💕.  (1 Cor 13:8)

I urge you today to continue your Christ-like generosity as the government decreases its resources towards the poor and elderly.  It's how you are wired.

Remember, by man's standards, Christ was born into poverty, but He set the world on its end.

Colossians 3:12

As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

1 Timothy 6:18-19

18  Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

19  In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
