Do it Yourself Testimony Kit
Back in the day in the old church, a good chunk of the morning liturgy was dedicated to testimony service. Times have changed and you rarely see this practiced. Testimony services was a mixture of edifying testimonials and songs.
The results of these testimony services of yore were mixed. They could be extremely uplifting or they became routine to the point where could recite a regular's testimony the subsequent song.
I still think there is a place for an encouraging testmony even in the middle of the neo-worship machines we have now.
When I was a teen sitting in these testimony services, I was comfortable being a spectator and letting the grown folk speak to their heart's ❤️ content. Every once in a while a church mother thought it was good idea to get the young people involved. She call out one of us. Slipping discreetly under the pew did not provide any refuge. She would find you.
I knew this was a possibility every fourth or fifth Sunday, but I never came prepared. Inevitably, I would get called on. This very reminiscent of being in a Triganometry class by the teacher to complete they mystery equation on the chalkboard.
I figured it out, but yee gosh. Harrowing times for a teen.
Now, with few years of experiencing the goodness of God. I find myself with great expectations and always on the watch for His works in my life. I am prepared to give an account of a Living God in my life. I am not bashful, but proud of God's influence and guidance.
When called on, it is not a struggle to articulate God's daily impact. In this day and age, the world needs to hear you. Old school here. As I peruse the StarTribuene this morning, I easily see wars and famine in Europe and the middle east, Nazi marches in Indianapolis, celebrating the marvelous differences in people is now taboo, and the poor getting poorer.
This planet is ripe for your testimony. You have to be ready to declare (say something in a solemn and emphatic manner) it.
1 Peter 3:15
You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.
Your testimony—is not about per se. It is the story of God's work in your life—It serves as a powerful tool to bring glory to God. It encourages and builds others, ignites faith, and leads unbelievers to God by demonstrating the transformative power of Christ.
To prepare, focus on the daily workings of God in your life. As Him to reveal himself to you and I guarantee He will.
Jeremiah 29:13If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Lastly, be persistent and patient in your pursuit of His presence and revelation, and be unabashed (i.e., not embarrassed, not disconcerted, or not ashamed)!
2 Timothy 1:8So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.
Song of the Week -
Hallelujah! Sing a New Song to GOD. Sing HIS praise in the assembly of godly people. Psalm 149:1.
"Working Together", 2025, Vashawn Mitchell
This a good song to listen to while doing Saturday morning chores. It is a down home gospel song for this generation. I would love to play this song on the piano. The progressions are so soulful.
Working Together Lyrics
No, it won't be too long
No match for your faith
It's just a storm
And you know that he
He won't let you fall
Like I said before
Your trouble won't last always
You're called according to his purpose
God is no respecter of persons
He will set you free
In time you'll see
It all works together
It's working together
It's working together for your good
(It's working)
It's working together
(Everything is)
It's working together
(I believe it is)
It's working together for your good
(Just look to the hills)
Just look to the hills for which cometh your help
(Your help)
Your help comes from him
(I know that he's able)
I know that he's able
(My God is)
Yes, God is able
(Just look to the hills)
Just look to the hills for which cometh your help
Your help comes from him
(I know that he's able)
I know that he's able
(Yes,God is able)
Yes, God is able
(Can we all say, it all works together)
It all works together
(It's working together)
It's working together
(Everything is)
It's working together for your good
(It's working together)
It's working together
(Keep trusting and believing)
It's working together
(That everything is working)
It's working together for your good
(It's working together, for your good)
(Come here Taelia, talk to somebody, tell'em)
And though your heart is breaking
(Your life)
Your life is his to save it
(Hold on)
Hold on to his hand
(He won't let you fall)
He won't let you fall
(Ouuu...)
And though your heart is breaking
(Your life is his)
Your life is his to save it
Hold on to his hand
(He won't let you fall)
He won't let you fall
(All though your heart is)
And though your heart is breaking
(Your life belongs to him)
Your life is his to save it
(You better hold on)
Hold on to his hand
(Ye-ah)
He won't let you fall
(Ye-ah, all though)
All though your heart is breaking
(God knows it gets a little tough sometimes)
Your life is his to save it
(But if you just hold on)
Hold on to his hand
(Hold on to his hand)
He won't let you fall
(Ahh-wooo...)
All though your heart is breaking
(You may have to cry sometimes) (he's a mender to the broken hearted)
Your life is his to save it
(But your life belongs to God)
Hold on to his hand
(He won't let you fall)
He won't let you fall
(Hold on...)
All though your heart is breaking
(Broken hearts get fixed)
Your life is his to save it
(Broken hearts get healed)
Hold on to his hand
(Broken hearts get mended)
He won't let you fall
(Yeee-aah, ye-aah) (c'mon tell somebody wherever you are)
And though your heart is breaking
(Broken hearts get mended)
Your life is his to save it
(His name still means Ra)
Hold on to his hand
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
He won't let you fall
(Hold on to his hands)
He won't let you fall
(Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay - hold on to his hands)
He won't let you fall
(Oh-oh, live)
(Ay, ay, you gotta keep getting up in the morning, live)
(Live, oh, hold on my brother, hold on, my sister, you, you... gotta live)
