The Advent-age Is Yours: Embracing the Joy of Christmas
Good Son-day!!!
As we step into this beautiful season, my hope is that your Christmas this year will be the best you’ve ever experienced.
Picture this:
- Music filling the air—Christmas songs playing all day through your Google Nest or Amazon Echo.
- Voices lifted in harmony—singing carols at a Christmas Eve service. (Fun fact: Christmas in Latin means Christ Mass, or Christ Church Service.)
- The aroma of the season—clove, pine, and nutmeg scented candles wafting through your home.
- A feast to remember—prime rib, crab legs, ham, Cornish hen, collard greens, mac & cheese (wet or dry), a red gelatin treat, strawberry-topped cheesecake, and sweet potato pie prepared with care.
- Family and friends gathered—aunts and uncles sharing stories of good times while playing Spades or Uno.
- The joy of giving and receiving—the excitement of unwrapping gifts together.
All of this is part of the season called Advent, which in Latin means the coming or arrival. It reminds us of the anticipation of Christ’s birth and His second coming. That is the stage we are in right now—a season marked for centuries by hope, peace, and love.
Romans 15:13
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
These themes never grow old. They are why we love Christmas music—it brings us to a place where Christ dwells, and we cherish His presence.
John 1:14
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
From Jo and me, we wish you the greatest Merry Christmas ever!
Hallelujah! Sing a New Song to GOD. Sing HIS praise in the assembly of godly people. Psalm 149:1.
