Transformational!
Picking up from last week’s topic on the soul of man; the transition of spiritual impact started with the God breathed into spirit into man to the soul of man. I highlighted how the spirit is willing to comply with the commands of its creator and how it can influence the soul of man. I gave two vivid examples of matriarches, Mother Helen Parker and Dr. Jill Jackson, who have yielded to the whisperings of their willing spirit.
To further this point, I will recount William Jackson’s second favorite passage (if you know the first, holler back at me). It is found in Romans 12:2. You’ll find it below in two versions, King James and New Living Translation
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
“Let God transform you”, let’s explore this a bit.
One of the latest buzz words you will hear at work when service or employee changes are afoot is, “transformational”, which is . . .
Transformational change is a type of change that occurs when someone makes a fundamental change in how they operate. It's often triggered by changes in a person’s thinking and living. This type of change can be challenging, but it can also lead to significant improvements in a person’s life.
Transformational change is usually triggered by something that is inspirational. When you reflect on the soul of man, your background or history may tend to say it’s inherently evil or tarnished based on some teachings you’ve received through the years. Keep in mind all that God has created, He is quite pleased with, including the soul.
The soul is thinking about things that are good and wonderful, it is powerful!
When the soul is meditating on its relationship with God and starts to think about gaps in that relationship is when God can influence a transformational change as described above; it can wipe the soul’s whiteboard completely and give it a new charter, a new direction in life.
We have reached the conclusion of the Pentecost season, a celebration of the Holy Spirit. In many church circles much focus is given to the evidence of the Holy Spirit. Some emphasis needs to be given to the transformational in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit in you. The same Holy Spirit that transformed Christ’s mortal body from the dead into life resides with you through salvation. Simply put the Holy Spirit is God. God can do anything. I will stop here because I am about to get started on my favorite topic.
How do I find my inspiration to trigger the transformation? You need only to believe. Just have a little bit of faith in any of the green text in any written in the blog. You can cast aside any black text, but grab a hold of any green and I guarantee you will pull the trigger on your faith and your life for the best.
So then, faith comes to us by hearing the Word of God. And the Word of God comes by someone preaching it. Romans 8:17
Oh, so based on this passage you cannot cast aside the black text in this blog as well. Huh, who knew?
“Jesus is My Help”, 1997, Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Choir
While I was in my car commuting to work I was listening to a radio station broadcasting out of Memphis and heard this throwback.
This is a quintessential Walker choir song. Good vocal harmony, simple words that stick with you from Sunday morning to Wednesday PM—-that means there is a good hook; umpteen modulations; and a drum snare rhythm that kicks!
Jesus is My Help Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Why should I worry, why should I fret
Look at all the ways He's made
And every promise kept
I look to the hills from which cometh my help
[Chorus]
I'll tell you where my help cometh
Tell you where my help cometh
Tell you where my help cometh
It cometh from the Lord
[Vamp]
Jesus is my help
Jesus is my help
Jesus is my help
Jesus is my help, my help
