Good Son-Day!!!!

Dabaq דֶבֶק, κόλλα My— Brother Keeper

As I am pulling into the Hennepin County Government parking ramp, I receive a call from Dr. Jill’s eldest son, Alex; you see I have two siblings who are much older than me.  He begins the conversation with his usual charming greeting.  He asked me if I received the email.  I answer, yes indeed I did. It was a quick conversation because I was entering the bowels of the building-------- that is two floors underneath the ground level.

The email he sent this week was marvelously crafted and undoubtedly well received by all.  His message like many of his other messages was another act of selflessness, binding, and uniting the Jackson family.

It hit me then, I never acknowledged our family patriarch in a deserving way.  Here is my small attempt and probably not enough.

Mr. Alex Maurice Jackson. Here is a declaration (a formal or explicit statement or announcement) to my brother; I see you.  I feel your heart; I sense your kindness; your unrelenting way of loving your family and expecting nothing in return—very Christlike.  I am proud of you and will stand by your side in all your efforts.

You are the glue to this family; you are our Abram to Abraham leading the well-being of 8 siblings and their offspring and multiple generations thereafter.

Thus, like Abram your name will need to change.  The obvious English name for glue is Elmer.  I know, I know, mmmmmmmmmm, no.  Not a large leap for your sisters to add “Fudd” to the name.  I have another more ancient and dignified name that means unite, it is the Hebrew word Dabaq, found first in Genesis 2:24.  Or you may prefer the New Testament word for unite/glue, κόλλα , pronounced Koliah.

The passage below aptly describes what you’re doing and thank you!

1 Corinthians 12:12-14

The body of Christ, or the people that are the whole of humanity, are a team. The body is not supported by one person, but by all of us. We are one, we are strongest working together in unity. Teamwork is the key to living life in harmony, so that we can do God's will.

Song of the Week

“All Things”, 2023, Kirk Franklin.

A signature KF song with the soprano and alto harmony. After these years, the sound is like comfort food.

All Things lyrics

Can I talk to you

I know you got some questions

It’s the hardest thing you’re going through

Let’s talk about it

Talking about mountains

Talking about pain

Talking about my life

When Will It change

Talking about all things

God can do all things

Talking about nights

I lose my way

And my dreams

that are being erased

Talking about all things

I say God can do All things

I know days it won’t always be easy

So it’s good to know

I’ll never let you down

Talking about all things

All the big and the small things

God can do all things

Talking about doubts

that flood my mind

I’m out of funds

And I’m out of time

I need a Blessing

I need you to do all Things

I know days it won’t always be easy

So it’s good to know

I’ll never let you down

Talking about all things

All the big and the small things

God can do all things

Talking about all things

All the big and the small things

God can do all things

Just because He’s silent

Doesn’t mean that He’s still

He’s not only preparing it for you

He’s preparing you for it

Talking about all things

All the big and the small things

Talking about doors

You’ve never seen

Blessings on Blessings

For you to receive

Talking about all things

All the big and the small things

Talking about doors

You’ve never seen

Blessings on Blessing

For you to receive

Talking about all things

All the big and the small things

Talking about doors

You’ve never seen

Blessings on Blessing

For you to receive

Who’re we talking about

All Things

Who’re we talking about

All Things, All Things

All Things

God can do it

He can do it

All Things

All Things, All Things

All Things

God can do it

He can do it

All Things, All Things

Talking about all things

All the big and the small things

God can do all things
