Pastels: A Palette of Vitality

This is my final Lenten season reflection for the year.  What a joy it has been to walk through the history of Easter. We’ve explored so much, stories, history, the roots behind the traditions that shape our Easter celebrations. My hope is that understanding the whys and hows has opened the door for you to lean in a little more… to savor the moments, pass on the customs, and create memories with the people who make your life full.

Most of all, I hope the stories have drawn you closer to the Anointed Savior. . . Jesus Christ, our Lord and Master. Because every tradition, every symbol, every celebration ultimately points back to Him. And when we see it that way, the season becomes more than a holiday. It becomes a reminder of hope, renewal, and the love that holds us steady.

On Sunday, I’m already picturing the grandest chapeaus floating through the sanctuary, sheer veils catching the light, feathers dancing with every step, and maybe even a little Tweety Bird perched proudly on a brim or two. The men and boys will be dressed to the nines, looking sharp as ever, while quietly plotting how to loosen a collar or slip a finger under a stubborn tie.

And the dresses. . . oh, the dresses. They’ll look like an artist spilled joy across a canvas. Baby blue, lavender, mint green, lemon yellow, soft pink… a swirl of pastels swirling throughout the sanctuary. These colors have become the symbol of Easter.

Long before Easter had a name, people used soft dyes in their spring festivals to celebrate renewal and vitality. They drew inspiration from the world waking up, to early blossoms pushing through the soil, the soft glow of sunrise, and the tender beauty of newborn critters. When Christianity embraced the season, these colors came right along, weaving ancient joy into the story of resurrection. Does this context sound familiar?

The Symbolism behind the Pastels

  • Yellow — joy, happiness

  • Pink — kindness, warmth, new life

  • Lavender — calmness, purity, grace

  • Green — renewal, vitality

  • Blue — hope, tranquility

Included in this beautiful walk of faith is vitality. . .a life that feels active, strong, healthy, and full of God‑given prosperity. It’s the kind of life where .your spirit shines, your joy runs deep, and your hope refuses to fade.

As I close, I want to leave you with a few passages that whisper this truth: God doesn’t just give life… He gives life with a spark. A life with energy, renewal, and a steady current of strength flowing from His presence

John 10:10 Abundant Life

I have come that you may life and that you have it more abundantly

2 Corinthians 4:16 Daily Refreshment

Never give up! Our bodies are becoming weaker and weaker. But our spirits are being renewed day by day.

And finally, the very moment . . .Stone Rolled Away

Matthew 28:2-7

2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for HE IS RISEN, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.

Hallelujah! Sing a New Song to GOD. Sing HIS praise in the assembly of godly people. Psalm 149:1.
