After Easter Glow - Everyday

It is a Good Son-Day Indeed

You Don't Know What I Got

After Easter Glow - Everyday

There is a strong assumption on my behalf that whoever is reading the good news sent weekly believes Christ was raised from the dead and conquered death.  With that logic, you believe He is living today.  If not, you would have told me to cease and desist a time long ago.

I bring this up because the euphoria - not the HBO series - but the well-being and happiness that comes from holidays such as Christmas and more recently Easter does not need to take a pause until the next holiday.

Christ makes an appearance in our lives routinely, but it may be a situation where His impact, miracle work, intervention, counsel, comfort, peace. . . etc may not be recognized, thus not celebrated even when it is very apparent both in the natural and spiritual realm.  Remember He is omnipresent, always there and . . .  doing something for you.

Hebrews 7:24-25
Jesus lives forever, His priesthood (the mediator between us and the Father) lasts forever. Therefore He is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through Him.  He lives forever to INTERCEDE with God on your behalf.

The lack of acknowledgement may be unwittingly seeing life circumstances and events as coincidental - i.e., things happening in your in life are purely coincidence.  We can be lulled into that state in a temporary basis because we take some things for granted.

Friday night, Jo and I watched the Womens' final four games. During the second game that featured Connecticut and Iowa,  I noticed whenever Iowa performed well, the fans were boisterous and I had to turn the volume.  The Iowa fans appreciated the achievement of reaching the final four and celebrated the good moments. Iowa has only been to the Final Four twice.

To the contrary, Connecticut has played in the Final Four 23 times.  Their fans were laid back.  I had to turn up the volume to hear their fans cheer.  They are bored with the achievement. When Huskies needed a lift from their fans, it was negligible at best.  It hurt the team.  The 23rd time in the Final Four is just as special as the first. As a Minnesota Gopher fan, we only have seen the Lady Gophers in the Final Four once, in 2004 when Lindsay Whalen and Jane McCarville led them to a Final Four against . . . (wouldn't you know it) . . . Connecticut.

My encouragement today is to be intentional about acknowledging the daily going-ons in your life and never to take the presence of God in your life for granted.

John 20:24-29
24 One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin),[a] was not with the others when Jesus came. 25 They told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”

26 Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”

28 “My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.

29 Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”

Yes, Christ sometimes needs to jolt us back into remembering the faith we forgot.  Verily (truly) He is a Wonderful God.  Say Amen exponentially to the eternal power!

Here is the epilogue to the Doubting Thomas story.  The passage emphasizes a risen savior doing many OTHER MIRACULOUS SIGNS. Christ is still doing this today, everyone.

John 20: 30-31
30 The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may continue to believe[ that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.

What miracles are in your book?

Song of the Week  Hallelujah! Sing a New Song to GOD. Sing HIS praise in the assembly of godly people. Psalm 149:1.

"The Lord Will Make a Way", April 4, 2024, Cole McSween

I am a product of the 1970's funk musical revolution.  This song has a distinctive thumpin' bass line and horn section.  Unfortunately, I can only give you a 30 second snipett of the song.  Please download it from Apple Music or some other source.  No video yet.

Lyrics
I know that the Lord will make a way
Even on the darkest of the days
The Lord will be faithful and good to me.
He won't forsake me, I believe

Deep in the valle He is near
Guiding me through what shall I fear
His plans are formed of old.
Faithful and sure.
He's gonna save us.  He's go the cure.

I know that the Lord will make a way
Even on the darkest of the days
The Lord will be faithful and good to me.
He won't forsake me, I believe
I know that the Lord will make a way

Look in the Good Word, His Word proves true
Trust in the promise, He'll follow through
We were slaves to sin, shackled and chained
But Jesus Christ came down
and you know that He made a way

In my trials, He's still good
His plans are working as they should
My hopes secure, I'll be ok
Cuz I know the Lord will make a way

Oh, Yeah.
Make it funky now

I know that the Lord will make a way
Even on the darkest of the days
The Lord will be faithful and good to me.
He won't forsake me, I believe
I know that the Lord will make a way

He'll make a way, He'll make a way
He'll make a way, He'll make a way
(You know He's gonna make a way)
He'll make a way, He'll make a way
He'll make a way, He'll make a way

You know He's gonna make a way
