Mind Blown Away!

It is a good Son-day, indeed

A Shameless Plug for Our Nieces

Mind Blown Away!
It is not news to you that pastors will preach certain types of sermons during the holidays like Easter, Christmas, and New Years in particular.  In fact, if they stray from preaching according to the season, members may complain or new believers coming to church for the first few times may be confused.  There is no harm in covering other topics during the holidays, but there is no harm in getting what you are expecting.  When you go to Taco Bell at 11 AM and they are still serving breakfast, you buy the egg taco.  Hmmmm, filling maybe, but the real deal taco supreme would have been more satisfying.

My messages are not a complete exception to seasonal topics.  The post Easter messages really provide a unique aspect of Christ to believers with how He forgives, His mysteriousness, His command, What the Kingdom of Heaven requires of us.  A little known fact is that the early church celebrated the resurrection of Christ for 50 days.  Like the 12 days of Christmas, each of those Sundays during that time were referred to as the "Second Sunday of Easter, Third Sunday of Easter,. . . etc.).  Overall, the title for these Sundays are "The Sundays of Easter". This is very similar to the Christmas season.  So our celebration of Christ's resurrection is not over (umm... not ever actually, when you think about--I digress).  Each Sunday, celebrated with a great feast.

Today is Sixth Sunday of Easter.

FYI - 50 days from Easter is May 20.  Pentecost is on  May 19 this year.  What is Pentecost? It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks (a Jewish holiday that follows the passover holiday and commemorates when the Jew received the first five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy; also known as the in Greek as Pentateuch).

Wow! There is something you have to like about a month-long celebration of getting the word of God.

Some may be saying you sure spent a lot of time on providing what some might call trivia----that is nice to know, mmm maybe.  Some might be pleasantly and delightfully surprised by the information.  If you said this, your mind was opened.  The slang for this is, your mind was blown or I was blown away learning this!

Christ was blowing away minds left and right during the "Sundays of Easter".  He is literally doing it in this passage.

Luke 24:44-45
44 Then Jesus said, “When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about Me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

Yes, minds were blown away here.  Christ was constantly expounding (stating or giving detail) about the Kingdom of Heaven.  This is what He is doing today as well as we seek Him.

Ephesians 1:5-10
5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.[a] 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. 8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

9 God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan. 10 And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.

All this to say, listen and be enlightening, the sensation on many levels is satisfying.

Song of the Week  Hallelujah! Sing a New Song to GOD. Sing HIS praise in the assembly of godly people. Psalm 149:1.

Overcomer Lyrics

Staring at a stop sign
Watching people drive by
T. Mac on the radio

Got so much on your mind
Nothing's really going right
Looking for a ray of hope

Whatever it is you may be going through
I know He's not gonna let it get the best of you

You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight 'til the final round
You're not going under (you're not going under)
'Cause God is holding you right now

You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds you
That you're an overcomer (whoa-oh)
You're an overcomer (whoa-oh)

Everybody's been down
Hit the bottom, hit the ground
Ooh, you're not alone

Just take a breath, don't forget
Hang on to His promises
He wants you to know

You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight 'til the final round
You're not going under (you're not going under)
'Cause God is holding you right now

You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds you
That you're an overcomer (whoa-oh)
You're an overcomer (whoa-oh)

The same man, the Great-I-Am
The one who overcame death
Is living inside of you

So just hold tight, fix your eyes
On the one who holds your life
There's nothing He can't do

He's telling you (take a breath, don't forget)
(Hang on to His promises)

You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight 'til the final round
You're not going under (you're not going under)
'Cause God is holding you right now

You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds you
That you're an overcomer (whoa-oh)
You're an overcomer (whoa-oh)
You're an overcomer (whoa-oh)
You're an overcomer (whoa-oh)

So don't quit, don't give in
You're an overcomer
Don't quit, don't give in
You're an overcomer
Don't quit, don't give in
You're an overcomer
You're an overcomer
